The Assistant Plant Manager role is based in Waterville, OH and reports directly to the Plant Manager.
What you’ll get to do
Assist in the planning and directing the daily operations of the quarry.
Assist in production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner
Prepare operational schedule and coordinate production activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications
Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
Establish key inventoried items needed for all MRO (maintenance, repair and operation) items for the plant, and effectively interact with governmental and regulatory agencies, customers, vendors, Lehigh Hanson management, and neighbors as required.
Assist in quarry development and mine planning and reporting.
Manages product inventory.
Coordinates and attends safety and departmental meetings.
Ensures plant and mobile equipment is kept in good and safe working condition to maximize asset throughput.
Works closely with plant maintenance personnel to determine optimal times for production equipment repairs.
The incumbent must understand and comply with Company compliance policies, including the Code of Business Conduct (including NAM supplements), the anti-corruption policy and the Antitrust Compliance Policy, and is required to participate in compliance training in such policies and provide disclosures and compliance certifications from time to time. As a manager, the incumbent is expected to require compliance with such policies by subordinates, monitor their activities for compliance and disclose incidents of non-compliance as provided by such policies.
Must complete all assigned work in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements (i.e., MSHA, OHSA, DOT, DOL, etc.), including safety programs administered at a State or Local level where allowed by the Department of Labor. Must maintain awareness of surroundings at all times and perform their work in a safe and productive manner. In the event of a workplace incident, immediate notification to a supervisor and/or manager is required.
Essential Experience and Skills
Bachelor's degree with mining related discipline or the equivalent in relevant work experience
Prior supervisory experience preferred
At least 4 years of quarry experience and understanding crushing and process equipment desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organization and time management skills
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Solid understanding of government regulations and demonstrated ability to impact safe working practices
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to communicate clear and concise instructions in a professional manner
Work Environment
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
