Do you see yourself as a leader who can motivate a group to want to success! Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Area Operations Manager . Reporting to the Vice President/General Manager, this position manages Ready Mix Concrete locations in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. This is an ideal position for a plant or operations manager looking for the next career move. This position is responsible for diverse operations and has a lot to offer the potential candidate in terms of challenges, experience and potential for future growth.
Drive and promote a culture of safety while encouraging a safe work environment. Partner with the local Environmental, Health, and Safety Managers to maintain a safe working environment meeting all internal standards and external regulations. Ensure environmental regulations are followed and sustainability practices are in place. Success is building and sustaining a culture of safety and environmental stewardship as core values within all activities.
Effectively lead the management team and supporting functions to accomplish organizational objectives regarding safety, environment, profit, productivity, efficiencies, production costs and quality. This will require frequent travel between the sites and time spent in the plants.
Analyze plant and driver performance and evaluate modifications and capital improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
Oversee maintenance of concrete plants and fleet of mixer trucks
Implement and achieve organizations goals.
Analyze plant and personnel performance, evaluating modifications, capital improvements and changes in practice or behavior to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. This position requires strong analytical skills and the successful candidate must be able to make solid business decisions based on quantitative analysis
Prepare and implement annual operating and capital budgets as well as capital spending requests
Identify and develop talented individuals from all levels in order to build and strengthen the organization’s team over time. Evaluate performance of subordinates and provide coaching enabling achievement of their full potential. Staff development skills are a key requirement
Develop close working relationships with peers (Sales Manager, Quality Control Manager and Continuous Improvement Manager) to create maximum value for the business
Build relationships within the local communities surrounding the operations
Actively participate in local and national professional associations
This position will be based at Vienna, WV.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s in Engineering or Business or equivalent work experience. Graduate degree a plus.
Five years of Ready Mix operations management.
Prior experience managing multiple locations preferred.
Solid knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing Ready Mix operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of operational and sales and marketing issues affecting Ready Mix operations and associate equipment, and fleet management.
Demonstrated knowledge of RMC QC quality control parameters.
Understanding of or experience in managing in union environments.
Ability to demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking and work with the management team to identify worthwhile business opportunities.
Computer competency using Outlook, MS Office, PowerPoint.
Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation and financial statements.
Solid communication skills, oral and written.
Proven leadership skills managing multiple and diverse teams.
Highly motivated and driven to succeed.
Complies with all federal, state and local guidelines.
Willingness and ability to travel to the sites.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
