Cadman Materials Inc. is looking for a Project Manager. This position reports to the Construction Manager. Responsibilities include developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects, working with customer, construction manager and project superintendents to help with overall direction, completion and financial outcome of construction projects, and maintain accurate records on projects including pre-construction to post-construction phases.
What you’ll get to do
Make accurate take-offs and estimate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors work, assuring all areas have been accounted for prior to submitting estimate for review
Collect and present bid data before and during review
Bid on projects as assigned
Order and review plans and specifications
Build job framework, schedules, costs and margins into estimating software
Work with subs and vendors to job pricing
Send bid to customer, follow up, and track results
Verify bid proposal matches customer contract
Work with customer and superintendent if project issues occur that are above and beyond the scope of the project
Utilize daily publications, web sites and customer leads for projects to bid
Establish and maintain relationships with existing and new customers, local agencies, architects, and engineering firms
Accurately measure projects for final invoicing
Work with accounting to complete monthly invoicing
Manage project schedules
General project management
Essential Experience and Skills
Ability to perform work safely
Valid Driver’s License with valid insurance
Familiar with industry concepts, practices and procedures
Knowledge of DOT standards and construction practices
Knowledge of MS Office Suite and ability to learn various other computer software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent industry experience
3 years’ experience in concrete construction, asphalt paving, earth work and grading in both public & private sector is an asset
Preferred Experience and Skills
Prior supervisory experience
Experience with the DOT bidding process and ECMS a plus
Working knowledge of estimating and Scheduling software
Work Environment
Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
