Lehigh Hanson is looking for an experienced GIS Technologist. This role is responsible for data collection and data management using GIS to visualize property, exploration, and market related data for Lehigh Hanson operations throughout Canada Region. The position is also responsible for drafting and creating maps and figures with a high level of detail for use in various mining plans, reports and permits. This position is located in Vancouver in an office and reports to the Regional Manager Exploration & Resource Development.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Create report figures and maps for mine planners and geologists in both GIS and AutoCAD.

  • Download and convert aerial photographs, topographic data, and other GIS data to CAD data for mine planners and geologists.

  • Create maps for use by land managers in legal agreements.

  • Manage GIS database and update GIS metadata for leases, deeds, and surveys in the corporate land management system.

  • Coordinate UAV-based fly overs at Lehigh Hanson sites to support internal topographic data acquisitions – some travel required.

  • Assist in material cut/fill and surface area calculations for use for mine planning and permitting exercises.

  • Assist and coordinate deliverables with land surveyors assisting with mining operations tasks.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of advanced GIS knowledge

  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD drafting

  • Experience with mine planning software is considered an asset

  • Ability to communicate effectively with people internally and externally at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and take ownership of tasks and solving problems with a high level of detail

  • Experience in the aggregates or mining industry is considered an asset

Work Environment

Role operates in an office and manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
