The Terminal Manager role is based in Union City, CA and reports directly to the Region Director Logistics.
Reporting to the Director of Logistics, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the terminal including loading and unloading product, as well as rail, truck, ship and any terminal transportation activities at the Union City, California cement terminal.
Here’s what you’ll get to do:
Supervise the day to day operations of the terminal
Schedule and supervise the work as required to meet distribution requirements
Communicate with Sales and Logistics personnel to promote open channels of communication
Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained
Oversee the maintenance work performed by employees and outside contractors
Perform maintenance activities
Promote safe work habits and a safe work environment
Follow and enforce all company policies and safety procedures
Plan and implement cost reduction strategies in the operation
Ensure compliance with environmental standards and government regulations
Maintain time, work orders, material, equipment, and other records
Submit reports
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment problems to minimize downtime and ensure proper operation
Maintain vendor relationships
Coordinate with UPRR Customer Service and local Train Operations to ensure timely deliveries & departures of loaded and empty railcars.
Responsible for demurrage management of both trucks and railcars.
Essential Experience and Skills
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cement distribution or related distribution industry
Strong communication skills to interact with customer, contractor and intracompany personnel
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Good technical knowledge of computer hardware and software
Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP and Cement Distribution Management
Clerical skills a plus
Good mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability
Ability to Operate/troubleshoot a computerized control system – PLC a plus
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work in a high quality and team environment
