This is a great opportunity for someone looking to manage a newly opened quarry with a leader in the cement industry. The cement plant in Union Bridge, MD is looking for someone who is hardworking and dedicated to become part of the team. This position will be responsible for all aspects of our newly opened quarry in New Windsor; including the transport conveying system to the cement plant four miles away. Responsibilities include the following

  • Manage the quarry in all areas, including production, maintenance, quality control, and transport in a cost effective manner

  • Develop and execute goals and objectives for the quarry and crushing plant.

  • Sustain an optimal supply of raw material that meets quality targets to the cement plant

  • Assess current reserves and develop short and long range mining plans

  • Ensure reliability and performance of the mobile equipment

  • Manage a mobile equipment fleet including maintenance budget and oversight of repairs

  • Participate in annual crusher maintenance planning and repairs

  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and government regulations related to permitting and reclamation

  • Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Company policies and procedures in conjunction with Human Resources and Management

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through Organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing training, monitoring compliance, etc.

  • Perform work in a safe manner and complete all assigned work in compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements (MSHA, DOT, DOL, etc.)


  • Bachelor of Science degree in mining or quarrying

  • Minimum three years of direct management experience

  • Ability to manage a mining operation in challenging geology which requires detailed monitoring ore blending and selective mining on a daily basis

  • General understanding of cement quality control is desired

  • Prior experience managing and supervising a staff

  • Prior experience with quarry budgets, mobile equipment management, and capital project desired

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret geological maps, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

  • Ability to effectively present information to management

  • Ability to develop and execute mining plan based on production forecast.

  • Ability to complete GPS surveys and process data for reporting

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and mine planning software a plus

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
