Lehigh Hanson is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Specialist for our Fairburn Ready-Mix Concrete business based in the Tyrone, GA area.

Reporting to the QC & Technical Services Manager, the QC Specialist is responsible for monitoring properties of our ready-mix concrete at the batch plant and/or at the point of delivery by observation and performance of physical tests to assure that job requirements and being met consistently. Some additional responsibilities will include acting as the liaison between Distribution, Fleet, Sales, and the customer.

The QC position has tremendous upside for growth within our organization and is an ideal developmental position for a QC Manager.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Ensure production samples from various plants are obtained and delivered to the laboratory for testing.

  • Assist in performing trial batches and concrete mix designs in the central lab.

  • Perform physical testing on production samples to ensure production runs are within specified limits.

  • Communicate with the production managers at various plants to relay quality issues that may arise and report test results.

  • Uses test standards as listed in ASTM, ADOT, AASHTO or other municipal specifications.

  • When material quality is in question or problems at site are present, visits jobsite with customers to resolve issues.

  • Visits job sites to secure samples of material for further testing.

  • Assist production with troubleshooting issues that may arise with respect to material quality.

  • Data entry of information in daily reports: gradation data, concrete cylinder data, and lab trial batch data into database.

  • Frequently lifts up to 100 lbs daily.

  • Performs service related duties as needed.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Who we are looking for:

  • Associate’s Degree or industry certification such as ACI or equivalent experience in related field.

  • 2 years of Technical/QC Services management experience in the concrete industry.

  • Ability to perform/direct extensive cement, concrete, and aggregate testing.

  • Experience in resolving technical issues related to product-placement and material performance.

  • Product knowledge and experience with mix designs and bid package submittals.

  • Excellent skills in collecting and organizing data, project management, writing technical reports and presentations.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, problem solving, creativity, strategic thinking, fostering cooperation and teamwork.

  • Computer competency using Outlook, MS Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to be self-directed with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects.
