The Project Engineer position is perfect for a maintenance professional with strong technical skills, who is capable of taking a project from conception through completion.
The individual will direct and coordinate activities for plant capital and improvement projects, including technical ideas and conception, justification, supplier bids, construction and commissioning. This position will also work as a technical resource with various departments including maintenance, production, safety, and quality to resolve plant issues.
This position will be located at the cement plant in Tehachapi, CA

Directs, reviews and manages capital and improvement projects.
Directs preparation of specifications, including drawings, type of equipment, and materials, to be used in construction and equipment installations.
Prepares scope of work documents and estimates labor, material, construction, and equipment costs and/or requests for quotations from third parties.
Engages and oversees contractors and equipment service technicians.
Inspects completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.
Observes operation of installation for conformance with plant and company operational and safety standards.
Develops necessary documentation for projects such as preventative maintenance routines, Bill of Materials, Job Safety Analysis, and Environmental Standards into new projects for conformance and compliance with operational, company and governmental standards.
Ensures the identification and availability of required spare parts related to capital projects. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
Reviews and participates in developing plant budget; prepares financial justifications and manages projects within budget constraints.
Reviews equipment needs and modifications with various departments (management, maintenance, production, safety, quality control, environmental) to resolve plant issues and recommends measures to improve operations, conditions of machines and equipment, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
Reviews and participates in schedule development and execution for annual shutdown
Serves as a role model in the promotion of safety awareness throughout plant and Company, and promptly addresses safety concerns.
Who we are looking for:
Bachelor's degree (BS) in a related engineering field; at least five years related experience and/or training in the cement industry or related heavy industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
