HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
Reporting to the Plant Manager and a strong dotted line to the Labor Relations Manager, the HR Generalist will be responsible for the human resource function for the Tehachapi cement plant. The ideal candidate will be proactive, energetic, detail-oriented and able to anticipate the organizational needs and provide exceptional service in a timely manner. Qualified candidates can work independently, and can wear multiple hats and be hands on to ever-changing list of priorities.
Maintain harmonious relationship and close cooperation between management and bargaining unit employees as well as Federal, State and Municipal Agencies.
Provide guidance on policies including interpretation and discipline.
Work closely with the Labor Relations Manager on contract interpretation and union employee related issues.
Administers and assists active salaried, hourly and all retirees with fringe benefit plans; Facilitate the processing of accident & sickness benefits
Directs employment activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited and hired for plant and staff positions.
Develop, implement and actively train personnel in various programs.
Assure that company employment, personnel and equal opportunity practices comply with applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws.
Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Company guidelines, performing trainings,monitoring compliance etc.
Partner with (this position is the back-up) the Safety Manager to proactively manage health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health & safety performance.
Understanding of MSHA and citations a plus.
Responsible for the effective operation of the Performance Management System to ensure proper performance and utilization of employee skills.
Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on programs originating from individual work situations.
Maintains Personnel files and processes related reports.
Administer and assure compliance with AAP.
Provides a variety of human resource services to the plant including recruitment and placement, employee relations, and regulatory compliance qualifications.
This position will be based in Tehachapi, California.
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years HR experience
Prior experience in a manufacturing setting strongly preferred
MSHA knowledge preferred
Strong knowledge of employment law and recruiting/staffing
Knowledge of Labor Relations/Collective bargaining required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Solid computer skills including MS Office products
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
