Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic for the Stockton/Golden Arrow terminal.

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining all terminal equipment.

This position will be responsible for all the job functions as described in the Utility Operator I and Utility Operator II job description including loading customer trucks with bulk cement and receiving transfer loads when necessary. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, zone and pre-shift checklists, service and clean-up as needed as well as communicate with management at the terminal in a timely manner on issues delaying timely loading of trucks.

Essential Functions:

  • Preventive Maintenance, facility repairs and communicates with vendors on certain projects. This is a HANDS-ON type of position.

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on all terminal equipment including but not limited to electric motors, dust collectors, screw conveyors, mechanical conveyors and air compressors, pumps and pneumatic conveyance systems, and ship un-loader.

  • Monitor the unloading of cement and slag vessels by working with long shore-man.

  • Actively participate in the plant’s safety program through use and knowledge of safety rules and regulations (OSHA knowledge preferred). Must have a proactive approach to safety

  • Responsible for the implementation and tracking of the Preventative Maintenance program at the terminal to minimize downtime

  • Knowledge of material flow and process in order to perform safe and efficient maintenance.

  • Communicate effectively with our internal and external customers

  • Safely operate equipment to move, load and unload rail cars and load customer trucks

  • Maintain spare parts for terminal equipment.

  • Able and willing to work odd hours, including overtime and weekend shifts.

  • Maintain a clean & safe work environment

  • Must be able to pass TSA security requirements to obtain TWIC

  • Basic understanding of blueprints

  • Ability to understand computers and PLC’s

  • Stand for long periods of time, able to climb flights of stairs, work from heights

  • Good people skills and must be able to multi-task

  • Be able to operate a forklift and front-end loader, man-lift

  • Understand and demonstrate use of the load out and reclaim system

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and company policies and procedures. Report any unsafe condition, accidents or incidents to supervisor immediately.

  • Perform plant inspections and complete inspection documentation

  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned or required

Qualifications Required for the Job:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance

  • Must have proven mechanical and electrical ability

  • Welding skills a plus

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Demonstrated communication skills

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge, hardware and software, with computers

  • Clerical skills a plus

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work in a team environment

  • Experience in resolving problems and dealing with difficult situations

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions relating to maintenance and products

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, with minimal supervision, as well as be a team player
