We are seeking a qualified Production Supervisor at our aggregates operation in Romeoville, IL who supervises the production shift group as it pertains to health and safety, environmental controls/compliance, control room operations and outside work. The supervision of the production process ensures the safety of plant personnel, compliance, and environmental regulations as well as safety equipment optimization, utilization, and reliability while meeting quality and cost targets. The incumbent must possess an understanding of fundamental process theory, supervisory skills, and facilitation of essential shift communication.

This position will reside in Romeoville, IL and report to the Plant Manager

What you’ll get to do:

  • Direct and lead all shift personnel including job performance, safety, and quality of work

  • Assist, instruct, train and/or monitor personnel as necessary

  • Lead the safety program and culture at the operation including hazard recognition, housekeeping, employee behaviors and correction of issues

  • Provide input on the future of the operation including items such as reserve acquisitions and capital projects

  • Work with the union, labor relations and upper management on any employee issues that may arise

  • Prepare operational reports for review/discussion with Area Manager

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Program by suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment improvement and process improvement and encouraging reports to do the same

  • Organize all shift work including both production and maintenance activities

  • Monitor and follow-up to ensure all work is done safely, thoroughly and efficiently.

  • Follow plant and MSHA Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Maintain an awareness of plant environmental standards. Takes corrective action to address minor problems or report compliance issues to the appropriate department for resolution. Enforces the Safety Policies in supervising of others.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma. College degree or Technical School equivalent preferred.

  • Background in aggregates preferred, heavy industry experience required

  • Experience working in a quarry environment

  • Strong supervision skills, union experience preferred

  • Competent in MS Office applications required

  • Ability to make timely, critical decisions

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Complies with all federal, state and local guidelines.
