Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Maintenance Mechanic for our Jacksonville, Florida Cement Terminal
The Cement Terminal Maintenance Mechanic completes numerous tasks involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of stationary and mobile equipment used to unload, load, and transfer bulk cementitious products at our Jacksonville storage/shipping terminal. The individual selected for this position must demonstrate initiative, responsibility, have good interpersonal skills and be adaptive to a fast-paced and fluid business environment.
What you’ll get to do:
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing PM requirements on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems and loading/unloading-related equipment.
Diagnose and repair single/three phase electrical systems, electrical control systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and other electrical components.
Complete welding/fabrication tasks that include reading prints, drawings, complete measurements, tolerances and fusions of all genres of metal.
Monitor and repair defective equipment using diagrams, sketches, manuals, manufacturing instructions and engineering specifications.
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Control downtime by scheduling routine PM in the context of operating goals/schedules.
Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock levels.
Communicate with Terminal management regarding upcoming maintenance projects and the future need for equipment, parts and supplies to complete same.
Supervise, assist, inspect and assign work for all employees involved with your assigned projects.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing technical publications and working with vendors to stay current with cement terminal technology.
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulation.
Coordinate, verify and report down time for the assigned projects.
Practice and promote high standards of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all work areas.
Communicate with management regarding condition of critical plant equipment to minimize down time.
Who we are looking for:
Degree or Certifications in related field(s) preferred but not required.
Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
Experience in steel fabrication and welding highly preferred.
Must have experience in electrical panels and electrical machinery.
Experience in the rail, trucking, maritime, shipping port, dock, or cement/concrete industry highly preferred.
Knowledge of varied types of motors and their operation.
Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctioning.
Knowledge of the diagnostic and repair tools and equipment used in dissembling, repairing and installing mechanical equipment.
Ability to analyze mechanical problems, organizes assigned maintenance and repair work, and develops effective work methods.
Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manual.
Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary
Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus.
Ability to work independently.
Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership
Must possess an even temperament to work under pressure to prevent costly delays in production that can result from machinery breakdown
Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
