HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

This position functions in a team environment and performs all activities necessary to process multiple payroll cycles for US and Canada. Scope includes maintaining related records, preparing payroll tax and accounting transactions, voluntary and involuntary deduction reports, documenting and updating procedures, responding to employee questions and troubleshooting issues. This role will partner with HR, business areas and employees to provide quality payroll results and knowledge supporting use of the payroll time and attendance system (Kronos) and other HR/Payroll related functions. To be successful, it is critical that the individual in this role partner with other areas of Employee Services, IT, a variety of internal customers and external third party providers. Manage the accounts receivable assets of respective area of responsibility with a focus on the following:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of processes and controls required for successfully completing weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls for all Companies and divisions.

  • Adhere to all state/provincial and federal regulations for payroll processing.

  • Reconcile employee hours and dollars associated with payrolls containing more than 5,000 employees.

  • Represent the organization in interaction with locations, including the ability to provide immediate guidance and training as needed.

  • Manage incoming transactions (via case management system), insuring that documentation is complete and in compliance with requirements.

  • Work with team to ensure proper distribution of payroll files, checks and advices weekly.

  • Manage and perform timely completion of more than 500 adjustment transactions weekly.

  • Prepare all reports pertinent to payroll runs including deposits, tax, employee benefits, union, garnishments, and retirement.

  • Ability to prepare Records of Employment for Canadian Employment Insurance reporting and related governmental reporting.

  • Participate in payroll conversions and acquisitions as well as implementation of new payroll software.

  • Assist in special projects, internal audits, system and process testing, and other areas of the business as required.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years’ experience with in-house payroll production or equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Experience with complex payroll related transactions and the impacts on other areas such as union compliance, benefits, garnishments, accounting, and payroll tax

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service & organizational skills

  • Detail-oriented and positive attitude

  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)

  • Must be able to successfully adapt to a fast-paced working environment, with multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Canadian payroll exposure preferred

  • Knowledge of J.D. Edwards preferred

  • Knowledge of Kronos time entry software preferred

  • Experience with acquisitions, conversions, and implementations preferred

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) preferred
