Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineering Manager to support our US Operations. This position will be based at our corporate office in Irving, TX.
The Electrical Engineering Manager provides engineering design, project management and construction management support to the crushed stone and sand/gravel operations within the U.S. They will support local management with the design, estimating and construction of major plant service and equipment upgrades and plant replacements expansion projects.
The Electrical Engineering Manager will report directly to the Director of Project Management and Engineering but will work closely with the Regional VP’s, operations managers and other corporate departments and have a “dotted line” reporting responsibility to them.

What You’ll Get To Do
Plan, design and coordinate projects including developing timelines to work on projects which have the highest priority to the business unit, and the plant, and will maximize the availability of the plant equipment.
Prepare feasibility studies including cost estimates for CAPEX planning. This includes project plan development, capital budget planning, preparation of preliminary engineering, development of standards and specifications, timeline development and schedule.
Scopes of work, planning, coordinating, and scheduling work, supervision of contractors, required to ensure project efficiency and success.
Provide guidance to electricians in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical and control systems including process problem solving and measurement activities that enable continuous plant operations.
Ensure the operational viability of operations by evaluating and maintaining the proper functioning of all electrical and control systems.
Review design of electrical installations, and provide problem solving and root cause analysis support
Manage electrical project costs and maintain records of the costs to ensure best value design is achieved.
Work with Purchasing personnel to prepare contracts to ensure contracted work meets specifications, timeline and cost-control goals.
Establish and maintain communication with suppliers, contractors, and engineering firms outside of the company, as well as with other technical plant personnel, to ensure the necessary support is in place to complete projects in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
Support and monitor the development of condition-based electrical maintenance programs including thermography analysis, equipment troubleshooting and trending, vibration analysis and laser alignment. Trains electrical maintenance personnel on use of condition-based maintenance procedures, techniques and technologies.
Assist in the successful completion of projects by coordinating electrical plant projects and shutdowns with overall large capital projects.
Coordinate and all electrical system upgrades and changes in accordance with project plans and overall plant operational goals.
Ensure compliance with all code, regulations and MSHA Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Take corrective action to address minor problems and compliance issues.
Who We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is required, EE or EET preferred
Minimum 10 years professional experience in the field of electrical engineering and project management
Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing support for heavy manufacturing, aggregate of mining preferred
Excellent personnel skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external customers and contractors both verbally and in writing.
Highly motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision in a multi-task, dynamic, team environment.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, Word, Access, and Project
Fluent with NEC, NFPA, ISA, etc.
Good familiarity with the operation and maintenance of common electrical equipment such as power distribution system, breakers, high voltage system, air condition and pressurization systems, variable speed medium voltage drives/motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC equipment and power monitoring and communication systems.
Strong knowledge of crushed stone and sand/gravel processing plants and equipment, RMC plants, crushing and sizing equipment, water handling equipment, water recovery equipment, conveyor haulage systems, and dust control systems.
Ability to thoroughly understand all system analytical studies including short circuit, coordination, load flow, motor starting and arc flash.
Strong understanding of contractual matters (negotiation and legal aspects) and the justification process for projects including EVA, IRR, NPV
Good market pricing knowledge and cost awareness
Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management, problem solving and creativity, strategic thinking, and decision making
Working knowledge of SAP desired
Good knowledge of CAD software (design of system installations)
Familiar with PLC and HMI architecture
Willingness to travel within North America.
