The Director, Project Management Office (PMO), is a highly visible role that is responsible for the overall IT project management and governance function, providing leadership, coordination, and management of the PMO processes and functions. Reporting directly to the Vice President of IT/CIO, this position will support large initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders and span across product lines, corporate teams, Group IT and externals partners. This role will interact regularly with executive leadership and provide strategic leadership on multiple levels.

This position will reside at the corporate office in Irving, Texas. Job Expectations

  • Set the strategy and lead a team responsible for delivery of various improvement initiatives from problem definition to implementation completion.

  • Accountable for execution of programs that require a high level of cross functional teamwork and are typically performed under time constraints. Responsible for program definition, resourcing, issue escalation, budget, risk management and delivery.

  • Partnership with functional stakeholders to prioritize and validate large capital investments and build associated business case justification to gain executive level approval.

  • Define, implement, and maintain program management strategies, procedures, processes, and methodologies.

  • Define and evolve various operating models to manage large scale initiatives related to continuous improvement and ensure direction of the initiative remains aligned with leadership expectations.

  • Support SAP implementation and project work streams.

  • Foster collaboration, strategic alignment and integrated planning and execution across different functions in a matrix organization.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations.

  • Effectively control the intake mechanisms for new projects.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Accountable for an in-depth understanding of the status of several dozen committed and active projects, of various scale, complexity, and budget; and hence responsible for raising appropriate concerns as necessary.

  • Lead a team of 10+ resources including Business Analysts and Project Managers that function as a service to IT and the business; facilitate alignment of project pipeline and IT resources to ensure on-time, on-budget, with high quality, predictable project execution.

  • Work with the SAP implementation team

  • Coordinate and work with other IT peers (local and global) as well as group IT teams to engage resources for delivering successful project milestones.

  • Compliance to Lehigh Hanson specific methodology for all projects, including management of steering committee meetings, artifact/deliverable sign-off, formal project change control, stakeholders, and assisting project management resources to align their projects to the methodology including internal audit compliance.

  • Design, implement, and monitor project and portfolio KPIs, metrics, leading indicators, trending, executive presentations, portfolio status reports, and investment trends.

  • Evaluate the management of a project and identify the areas (Business Case including Financial Model, ROI, Scope, Staff, Resource, Schedule, Risk and Finance) that either require additional definition or are not being sufficiently managed. Perform portfolio analysis leveraging detailed analytical skills to identify opportunities and target value.

  • Responsible for maintaining Microsoft Project Server, including resource management, portfolio rationalization, labor reporting, and project management compliance.

  • Responsible and accountable for the successful planning, budgeting, and delivery of all IT projects, with key responsibilities including financial/budget management.

Who we are looking for:

  • SAP or large ERP implementation experience as a Director or at equivalent level.

  • Manage team of 10+ resources (Project managers, Business Analysts) in complex IT app systems environment.

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of relevant project management experience, and 8 years of experience directing staff and projects.

  • Managed 50 -100 cross-functional including technology resources on a project

  • Global/International experience working in multi-cultural, multi-country environment.

  • Proven track record of major project success ($1M$5m USD +) and managing the backlog and active project portfolio of an enterprise

  • PMP and CSM or PMI-ACP certification preferred

  • Additional work hours as required to ensure projects go-live success.

  • Savvy, adept and appropriate in a complex structure involving corporate level relationships, multi-division / business unit involvement and matrix reporting.

  • Excellent client relationship management skills including influencing and forming relationships with a wide range of partners including senior management

  • Experience managing PPM systems such as Clarity and MS Project Server
