Reporting to the Area Manager, Materials N.AB & NE.BC as well as reporting to the Board of Directors for the Parsons Creek Aggregates Joint Venture, this position is responsible for the management of Parsons Creek Aggregates and Inland Concrete’s Fort McMurray and Athabasca ready mix concrete and aggregates operations. The primary responsibilities of this role are the oversight of planning, sales, operations, human resources, budgets, business targets, quality control and major customer account relationships.


  • Manage the operations to maintain a competitive position in the market

  • Proactively manage safety and health initiatives to continuously improve the company’s performance and promote the highest level of safety

  • Manage capital and fixed asset programs and set strategies that leverage the efficient use of those assets

  • Identify capital projects, oversee the development of AFEs and management of approved projects

  • Provide leadership and direction in the effective recruiting, training, and development of staff

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders in the market that will assist in recognizing and adapting the changing customer needs and emerging market trends

  • Effectively participate in cross business teams and other initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the overall Canada Region goals

  • Negotiate collective agreements and manage labour relations

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance

  • Maintain relationships with the local community, industry organizations and regulatory bodies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree combined with 7-10 years’ experience in a management role

  • Advanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and think strategically

  • Knowledge of concrete products, manufacturing processes, quality control and equipment

  • Demonstrated competence in the areas of financial management, performance management, problem-solving and decision-making

  • Knowledge in mining and processing of aggregates would be an asset

  • Proficient in customer management

  • Demonstrated accountability for employee safety, health and environment management programs

  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
