The Maintenance Supervisor role is based in Edmonton, Alberta and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
What you’ll get to do
Oversee the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors
Manage urgent equipment issues
Coordinate with the Maintenance department by communicating anticipated jobs
Help develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and prioritization of mechanical expenditures and procedures
Prepare material and labor estimates to develop project cost estimates and plant budgets
Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals
Maintain time, work order, material, equipment and other mechanical shop records
Determine appropriate training for employees by evaluating their skills, abilities, safety practices and behavior to maintain the necessary skills to perform their jobs
Plan the schedules of the staff including assigning work and overtime as required
Participate in the implementation of plant projects
Ensure the application of the plant’s rules of conduct, policies, and health & safety protocols during maintenance procedures to minimize injuries and lost time incidents
Motivation, ability, and willingness to provide ongoing maintenance support for all shifts by participating in the on-call program, which can involve after hours and weekend on-site supervision in order to properly resolve the issue
Ensure that Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled
Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the company’s safety and health performance.
Essential Experience and Skills
Journeyperson in Millwright trade or equivalent demonstrated experience combined with related post-secondary education
Minimum 5 years’ experience in cement manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
Supervisory experience required, preferably in a unionized environment
Demonstrated expertise in the areas of preventative and predictive maintenance programs, project management and the inspection, repair and installation of equipment
Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management, problem solving, strategic thinking and decision making
Knowledge of safe work practices and safety regulations
Proficient with SAP, MS Office and strong computer skills
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
