We are looking for an Environmental and Land Management Intern to be based in Cupertino, CA. This role would be appropriate for either a fresh graduate in a related field that is looking to jump-start their career, or a current student that is available to work a full-time schedule during the Summer and a part-time schedule during the semester.

The Environmental and Land Management intern will assist the Environmental and Land Management teams in continuously improving environmental and land management performance through the active and non-active sites across the West Region. The position offers the opportunity to gain meaningful experiences on a wide variety of tasks while contributing to Lehigh Hanson’s West Region business goals and objectives.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Assist in project management for various projects involving environmental permitting, compliance, land management and any other sustainability issues

  • Collaborate on cross functional teams in order to help the design, development and implementation of various Environmental and Land Management projects across the Region.

  • Assist with updating the environmental & land management databases and generate reports to assess performance

  • Maintain and help develop environmental training programs

  • Become familiar with all media (air, waste, water) programs for the various business lines and provide support to environmental and operations staff to maintain environmental compliance at the various sites across the Region

  • Provide support for land management inspections and administration for active and inactive sites in the Region

  • Assist with developing and/or reviewing EHS policies and procedures

  • Assist with general administration for the Land Management and Environmental Teams in the Region

Who we are looking for:

  • Student that is pursuing (or just graduated with) a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or related degree

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

  • Shows initiative and is able to work independently and in teams

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent time-management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
