Inland Aggregates a division of Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Maintenance Superintendent. This position is responsible for improving equipment availability and managing the maintenance staff. This position will have the opportunity work closely with the Production department to plan, engineer, coordinate, schedule, and manage the predictive maintenance programs for all processing plants and mobile equipment. Additionally, this position other opportunities include direct responsibility to work on projects to include compliance with all safety regulations and leadership of the overall effort to eliminate any hazard that may pose a risk to Lehigh Hanson employees, subcontractors, or visitors.

This is a position based in Calgary, AB at the Aggregate Pit located in Spy Hill.

What you’ll get to do :

  • Supervise the maintenance department employees.

  • Plan the maintenance activities of the processing plants & mobile equipment with a focus on eliminating or engineering out job site hazards.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations and ensure maintenance employees are trained in the safe work procedures for all maintenance tasks.

  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance activities to balance plant & equipment availability with overall costs

  • Use project planning skills and techniques to prepare detailed step by step plans to efficiently execute all major equipment outages and significant repairs.

  • Work closely with production department by facilitating regular meetings to coordinate all planned plant & equipment outages and manages these outages to meet timelines and budgets

  • Identify key operating components to ensure that spare parts inventory is established to minimize plant & equipment downtime

  • Maintain records including plant process diagrams, site engineering drawings, and maintenance records

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the maintenance employees including identifying training needs for both personal development and specific maintenance tasks for this group

  • Develop and manage maintenance budget and manage cost control initiatives

  • Review and evaluate maintenance programs, planning and scheduling, equipment availability, supplier performance, and project work

  • Work with the Mine Manager to develop long-term goals and objectives aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the company.

Who we’re looking for :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, EIT, or Inter-Provincial TQ with a minimum of 5 years leadership experience.

  • Consideration will be given to a combination of education and aggregates or mining experience.

  • Minimum of five years of maintenance experience in the aggregates industry.

  • Full understanding of safety rules and regulations and a safety first approach to maintenance.

  • Solid understanding of preventative/predictive/corrective maintenance principles, techniques, and technologies.

  • Advanced interpersonal & communication skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and think strategically

  • Strong electrical & mechanical trouble shooting skills.

  • Must possess project management, multi-tasking, leadership and organizational skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis on Microsoft Excel), Oracle and maintenance tracking system modules

  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems and make decisions

  • Ability to interact with many levels of the organization

  • Financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
