This position is part of our Heidelberg Technology Center (HTC) based in Allentown, PA. HTC is our internal engineering and technical consulting group for our cement operations. This position will support plants across the US and Canada. Allentown, PA is conveniently located near Philadelphia, NYC, and the Poconos.

What you'll get to do:

Process Evaluation/ Production Support – Regularly consult with cement plant operations staff with respect to improving operational performance. Assess plant processes to identify technical problems / limitations while developing cost effective technical and operational solutions to solve these issues with respect to the equipment, equipment modifications or process modifications. Perform data gathering/field testing to support operational troubleshooting including heat/mass balances.

Equipment Start-up & Performance – Lead commissioning, start-up and performance testing of newly installed and/or modified equipment along with plant personnel.

Safety - Perform work in a safe manner and in accordance with MSHA regulations. Ensure others around you are working safely.

Environmental Protection – Assist in analyzing and avoiding environmental issues that occur during everyday operations at our cement facilities. Supply technical solutions to alleviate non-compliance issues, ensuring that compliance can be maintained on a long term basis.

Training – Assist in developing and delivering training courses related to milling and grinding design, calculations and heat balances for Process Engineers, EITs and other plant personnel.

Process Design – Participate with plant and HTC management in developing concept, scope and specification for capital investment projects in all areas of cement manufacturing. Be knowledgeable and up to date in technologies available for cement manufacturing application. Analyze and assist in selecting the proper equipment to optimally meet project goals for cost and performance.

Who we are looking for:

  • University/College degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree.

  • Minimum five years of cement manufacturing experience in operations and/or process engineering. Previous experience as responsible process design engineer is desired. Previous commissioning experience, operational troubleshooting and employee training are a plus.

  • Detailed knowledge of design and sizing core cement manufacturing components and auxiliaries.

  • Knowledge of cement chemistry, cement manufacturing, related processes and equipment.

  • Knowledge of quality control methods, laboratory equipment and its calibration for materials utilized or produced in the cement industry.

  • Continuous improvement of knowledge regarding process, process measuring equipment and cost optimization methods by using international resources.

  • Ability to travel is a must.

  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as individually, on complex issues

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
