WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
Support cement plants and management in maintaining environmental compliance at each operating unit including troubleshooting in collaboration with technical and plant operations staff. Offer strategic advice on environmental-related matters in an effort to obtain a positive outcome for Lehigh Hanson.
Interpret environmental regulations, including RCRA, and advise cement plants on compliance. Responsible for drafting permit applications and negotiating permit conditions for large capital projects.
Work with environmental regulators as needed when situations warrant such interaction. Responsible for assembling and reviewing environmental key performance indicators for the cement business line.
Monitor plant environmental compliance performance and initiate corrective/improvement actions as required.
Perform plant environmental audits to evaluate, maintain, and enhance environmental compliance. Prepare and implement Action Plans after each audit to enhance the plant’s environmental performance. Assist in global audits of environmental performance data.
Provide guidance, direction, and recommendations to plant and management personnel pertaining to current regulations and their interpretation. Interpret regulatory language and provide clear guidance to plants.
Conduct negotiations between Lehigh and the regulatory agency for any non-compliance issues in order to obtain the optimum position or outcome for Lehigh Hanson.
Assist in the development of strategies for permit applications and discussions between Lehigh Hanson and the various regulatory agencies for permits on existing facilities, alternate fuel usage, plant expansions, and new operating facilities, including RCRA permit applications.
Assist the cement production facilities with stack testing.
Train Lehigh Hanson’s environmental professionals at the various facilities on regulatory applicability and requirements.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum experience of ten years in Environmental Compliance with five of those years being in the cement industry
Knowledge of Federal, State and Local environmental regulatory rules and procedures
Knowledge of RCRA regulations preferred
Knowledge of the inter-workings of the regulatory agencies
Knowledge of working with Industrial Work Groups; PCA, MTC, etc.
Knowledgeable of cement manufacturing processes
