This position is an excellent opportunity to provide civil/structural consulting expertise on projects within our organization to cement plants across our North America operations.


  • Manage Projects and Sub-projects up to $50 million in scope. Oversee civil projects from inception to completion in addition to providing civil engineering expertise to other cement plant projects. Participate in technical solutions for the business and oversee all aspects of project plans while managing multidisciplinary teams.

  • Lead the structural audit program for North American cement operations. Assess and guide all Lehigh Hanson cement plants relating to durability of existing building structures and infrastructure. Develop long range planning for maintenance and improvement on building structure and infrastructures as well as plans to optimize structure lifespans.

  • Design and engineer cement plant systems including civil and structural designs or oversee internal designers' work. Review outsourced engineering work.

  • Prepare civil, concrete, structural steel and equipment specifications for bidding process. Evaluate and recommend consultants and contractors to provide bids. Prepare bid comparisons and recommendations for purchase. Lead the technical aspects in contract negotiations. Monitor vendor performance. Ensure quality of design, structural steel and equipment supply.

  • Prepare specifications for construction bid packages, evaluate external contractors, prepare bid comparison and participate in contract negotiations. Throughout the project oversee contractor’s activity and performance.

  • Ensure plant and safety regulations are followed at all times.

  • Manage and archive drawings & documents for the entire duration of the project.

  • Assures compliance of all plant operations with company policy and federal, state, and local regulations. The incumbent must understand and comply with Company compliance policies, including the Code of Business Conduct (including North America supplements), the anti-corruption policy and the Antitrust Compliance Policy, and is required to participate in compliance training in such policies and provide disclosures and compliance certifications from time to time.

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience on a senior level of industrial civil engineering and construction. Professional Engineers License preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management for large scale projects. Excellent knowledge and experience of civil design, concrete, structural steel and silo construction of heavy industrial plants like power plants, cement plants, mining plants, etc.

  • Must be able to understand and interpret geotechnical reports prepared by consultants.

  • Solid business software skills, particularly MS Office. Solid experience in preparation of reports and presentations.

  • Prior experience in managing and directing civil contractors including claim management.

  • Good experience in budgeting and cost estimating of civil projects with budgets up to $ 50 million. Solid understanding of business financials including forecasting, budgeting, etc.

  • Solid organizational skills to coordinate and integrate the sub functions of the project team for the entire project time. Good skills to understand, influence, and communicate with people to achieve the goal of the project. Strong in communication in English, both, oral and written.

  • Initiative and ability to solve problems in a broad approach with occasional guidance from direct supervisor. These situations require analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking and a significant degree of evaluation.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to the North American Lehigh Hanson’s cement plants, grinding plants, terminals and external offices, as well as consultants’ offices and suppliers fabrication shops.

  • Prior experience coordinating with purchasing function.
