The Assistant General Counsel role is based in Allentown, PA and reports directly to the Associate General Counsel - Northeast region.
The Assistant General Counsel will be a member of an active law department and have regular exposure to business leaders. The Assistant Region Counsel will take the lead for some projects and for others work collaboratively with the Associate General Counsel, Northeast Region, or outside counsel.

What you’ll get to do
Provide timely advice and counsel to internal clients in various legal topics (contracts, litigation, real property, etc.).
Draft and review various agreements (including but not limited to purchase and sales agreements, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, leases, easements).
Research and analyze legal issues and write summaries/memos for submission to Associate General Counsel, Northeast Region.
Manage all aspects of litigation disputes and advise on pre-litigation disputes.
Assist in gathering documentation and information in response to subpoenas and litigation discovery requests.
Prepare summaries of the status of litigation and other legal matters for Associate General Counsel, Northeast Region.
Provide in-house legal training on various legal topics.
Handle other legal matters and duties as assigned by the Associate General Counsel, Northeast Region.
Essential Experience and Skills
Minimum of four years of relevant legal experience. Experience in real estate or litigation is preferred, but not required.
Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution and be admitted to the bar in good standing in a state in the United States.
Ability to work independently – but knowing when to ask questions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate is professional, honest, diligent, and empathetic.
Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to keep complex legal negotiations simple and clear, while striving to find a mutually agreeable outcome in an efficient but risk-conscious manner.
Ability to quickly learn and grasp the legal importance of new and unfamiliar issues is necessary for the position.
Capable of prioritizing and juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to provide prompt support to business operations.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience in the construction materials industry (cement, aggregates and/or building materials)
